Meet Evan Robinson:
From Prison to Purpose

Your Guide to Real Transformation
Evan Robinson knows what it means to hit rock bottom. Twenty-five years ago, he was convicted of robbery and sentenced to decades in prison. Today, he's a successful business owner, certified personal trainer, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who has dedicated his life to helping others discover their own strength.

The Turning Point
Before his incarceration, Evan had already been introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu alongside his best friend Joe Van Brackle. While Evan served his 15-year sentence, Joe continued training and eventually earned his black belt. Through regular letters, Joe shared his jiu-jitsu journey, techniques he was learning, and the philosophy that was shaping his life. While prison offered countless ways to make bad choices, Evan chose a different path. Inspired by Joe's letters, he spent his time studying martial arts philosophy, practicing movements in his cell, and preparing for the life he wanted to build when they could train together again. Jiu-jitsu became more than just a physical practice—it was a mental discipline that taught him patience, problem-solving, and the power of incremental progress. Every day, he focused on becoming better than he was the day before.

Building Something Better
When Evan was released in 2013, he didn't just survive—he thrived. He became a certified personal trainer, opened his own gym, and pursued his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under 4th-degree black belt Rich Latta at Renzo Gracie Pennsylvania Academy. But Evan's greatest achievement isn't his brown belt or his successful business. It's the life he's built through discipline, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to growth.

Honoring a Best Friend's Memory
When Joe Van Brackle passed away in 2017, Evan channeled his grief into purpose. He created the Robinson & Van Brackle Jiu-Jitsu Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides martial arts training to at-risk youth who might otherwise never have the opportunity.
Through this scholarship fund, Evan helps young people discover the same life-changing lessons that jiu-jitsu taught him: that with patience, persistence, and the right guidance, anyone can overcome their circumstances.

Why Evan's Story Matters to You
If you think transformation isn't possible, Evan proves otherwise. Whether you're struggling with fitness goals, feeling stuck in life, or looking for confidence and self-defense skills, Evan understands what it takes to create real change. He's walked the hardest path imaginable and emerged stronger, wiser, and more committed to helping others.
